Chandler Blessing

The third week of October, Kathy and I were blessed with a few days off and we took the opportunity to rent Black Bear for three days.  This is my fourth time to avail myself of your wonderful cabins and I cannot express how much we were awed by the natural beauty of your wonderful woods.  I don’t think we could have picked a better time for the gorgeous colors to burst from the forest.

Having lost my wife two and a half years ago was a devastating experience for me, and I came to your cabins then twice by myself to try and get myself together and go forward with the rest of my life.  Once I took my kids up to enjoy a cabin and the perfect solitude and complete peace and quiet that it affords.  This trip however, I was fortunate enough to have with me a beautiful woman whom will soon be my wife.  She and I have discussed our likes and dislikes in vacationing, and to our surprise, we both agree that a cabin in the mountains is much preferable to a condo on the beach.  I unknowingly, gave her the very best brief vacation she had had ever had, and we just relished in the beautiful and serene surroundings your cabins present.

God has been so gracious to us both, and brought us together in the home church that we both had grown up in this past March.  In fact, Kathy actually came in late and took my sat while I was singing in the choir.  And the rest they say is history.  My daughter and grand-daughter love her and think that we are very good for each other and Kathy’s children are growing into the comfort zone of us spending the rest of our lives together.  But with God’s help and blessing we feel confident that we soon will wed and share our time together serving wherever God directs.  Please keep us in your prayers and we wanted to let you know how much we appreciate your facility and how you manage and keep the cabins well stocked and clean and nice.  The throw hanging in the Black Bear is one of Kathy’s favorite scriptures and on our last morning there I spied the refrigerator magnet that also had a scripture that was so very much needed for us both on this trip.  Once again thank you for providing this wonderful. wilderness home away from home and God bless you richly is our prayer.  We will be back again in the future.  Please feel free to scan this and add to your great website if you desire to.

Yours in Christ,

Edward W. Chandler and Kath Ross

The Purdin Story

My wife and I also had a brief, 2-night stay in the White Tail cabin early this summer.  It was spectacular!  The cabin was so clean, spacious and nice, and we really enjoyed the total privacy on the back deck with hot tub.  Sheila, Mark and their kids are so nice and helpful, and I’m sure we will be back next summer for a longer stay.

Thank you!

Meads Family Story

Sarah and Jeff gave us a gift in July for our 41st wedding anniversary. It was for a two night stay at Mountain Creek Cabins. We left for the cabin on Monday, October 13th. What a glorious few days – the fall colors were at their peak in the mountains!

Mountain Creek Cabins are owned by Mark and Shelia Jenkins. They built the cabins on the original family farm. They are located in the wilds of Preston County and easily accessible from I-68.

Our cabin, Black Bear, was situated by a bubbling creek that snaked down the mountain.
